Marley & Me

I am a big fan of animals, especially dogs, so I was very excited about watching " Marley & Me" which is based on John Grogan's book and directed by David Frankel. Grogan tells a story about his and his wife's life after adopting little Labrador Retriever doggy called Marley.

The plot centers on Marley's bad behaviour. He acts insane. He can eat literally everything - from the whole bag of dog food to documents and necklaces. Marley also destroys everything. It is because he is too energetic and wants to have fun all the time.

The acting is first-rate. Owen Wilson as John Grogan and Jennifer Aniston as John Grogan's wife, Jenny Grogan, are fabolous. They show their feelings and emotions in a great way. There are no special effects, but there is no need for them to be, and the soundtrack is just superb. It gives the feeling of being right there with the actors.

It is not surprising that I liked this adaptation. In spite of my feelings for this movie, there is the reason why I also hate it - there are moments which makes me cry. On the other hand I love the way it makes me laugh. I can wholeheartedly recommend it to everybody. It is a film for those who like to laugh and are not ashamed to cry

And here you can see my doggy Kora. She's got the same character as Marley but now she is a little bit lazier than she used to be.

Our trip to Gdansk

We spent three days from the last week in Gdansk. I really liked that trip even if it was exhausting, even if I heard lots of times how others complained and even if I felt like :'Oh, I could sleep everywhere.' I've never thought I could fall asleep in tram.

So, how our foray looked like and what did we do ?

We did some sightseeing around Gdansk with a guide, who was acompanying us for those three days, and it took about four ours. We could watch monuments and shipyards, overcome two hundred stairs and marvel over panorama from a tower of  a church. We also visited Hel. There we spent time at the beach and watched seals. Another day we went to the Hewelianum Centre and Westerplatte. The first one was the centre of science where were interactive exhibitions and at the second one we could smell a bit of history of the Second World War out. Many of those attractions were tiring but fortunately we had some free time and a chance to take a rest or fun.

We played cards, games, took pictures at the beach and jumped on trampolines. I was eating the biggest slice of pizza and had the shortest night in my life. I spent a great time with my friends and classmates. It was this what I liked and enjoyed the most. I'm also happy and suprised that travel by the train to Gdansk was so comfortable.

Now, let's watch some pictures :)

Red Hot Chili Peppers, Arctic Monkeys & Florence and the Machine - favourite bands

Most of us have their favourite types of music, songs which can listen to over and over again, bands which love and concerts that is waiting for. I'm one of them. I have three cherished bands : Red Hot Chili Peppers, Arctic Monkeys and Florence and the Machine.

The first rock band that I have completely fallen in love with have been RHCP. They have had quite big influence on music I listen to and I play the guitar. Their songs let me be better guitarits because those I've chosen were so challenging.

This Californian band has played since 80's so it's not the youngest group. RHCP combine funk and alternative rock with funk and rap.  My favourites songs are from the end of 90's and the beginning of 00's. I love By the way, Californication, Dani California, Don't forget me, My friends, Otherside, Scar tissue, Snow, Under the bridge and Around the World.

From the band I specially like Anthony Kiedis who's a lead singer and the founder and John Frusciante who is a guitarist but who was replaced in 2009 by Josh Klinghoffer. I'm so sad about it, I prefered Frusciante's times but there is one more thing I cry about... They are coming in June to Poland and having a concert at Open'er Festival to headline and I can't be there. I count on it's not going to be the last time when they are in Poland and I hope I'll be able to see them in the future.

I also love Arctic Monkeys. Their music style is gorgeous and their latest album (AM) is icredible ! I'm a big fan of Alex Turner's vocal and band's guitar sounds. Actually, Alex Turner also is going to be at Open'er but as a member of The Last Shadow Puppets.

This English group was formed in 2002 and plays indie and psychedelic rock. Arctic Monkeys have many fast and energy songs but also play slower songs and ballads or mix them together.

I could listen to Do I wanna know ?, Snap out of it, Fireside, Fluorescent Adolescent, I wanna be yours and many of AM album all the time when I want to listen to Monkeys. Another songs I like are : Teddy Picker, Murdy Bum, When the sun goes down and Fake tales of San Francisco.

The last band is Florence Welch's band called Florence and the Machine or Florence + the Machine. Her songs remind me of autumn evenings with hot tea and book, with sunny days and gold leaves outside. When I think 'Florence', I think 'red hair, long dress, ball, quite piano music in the background, jazz and 50's or 60's climate mixed with fun of youth'. Flo & the Machine play indie rock combine with pop and soul.

My two favourite albums are Ceremonials and Lungs. The first one is calm, beautiful and atmospheric and the second one is more rhytmical and energy but also combined with slowly songs.

It's really difficult to chose favourite songs from those albums because all are amazing but I can recommend you : Only if for a night, Shake it out, No light, no light, Never let me go, Dog days are over, Cosmic Love or Heavy in your arms. They are gorgegous !

And you know what ? Florence also will be a headliner at Open'er this year. It's so unfair that there will be my two favourite bands and the member of my third favourite and I won't be there ! I unfortunately missed Florence's last concert in December and I don't think there will be any Flo's concerts in Poland in close future but I'm sure I will have a chance to at the great one sometime.

F.R.I.E.N.D.S

Many people like spending time in front of TV watching movies and shows. I am keen on TV series as well and one of my favourite is “Friends”.

The first time I’ve seen it was when my sister was watching it. I fell in love at once. “Friends”  is this kind of serials which you can watch over and over again. It is really hilarious. When I have got a bad day or I don’t feel well  I just watch an episode  and my life seems to look much better even though  I have watched it a thousand times and I know most of the lines by heart.

The production is about a typical group of friends : Monica, Ross, Phoebe, Chandler, Rachel and Joey. They live in New York, in the same building in two apartments, which are opposite to themselves  and they spent all the time together.
Let’s introduce them better J

Monica Geller is known as the most pedantic Person ever. She can’t fall asleep if she knows that her shoes don’t stand in line. She loves food and cooking (she used to be very fat when she was at high school) , so she works as a chef. One of her obsessions is that she has to win literally everything. Monica is Ross’ younger sister and the less loved child.

Ross Geller is a palaeontologist and he loves talking about dinosaurs and other things which are boring for common people. He has got a son with Carol - girl who showed up being a lesbian.

Phoebe Buffay is the craziest person the world could see. She’s really funny and she lives her own special life. She’s a singer,  guitar player and massager. Her mother committed a suicide when she was a teenager. She’s got a twin sister Ursula, but they don’t keep in touch and a younger brother Frank.

Chandler Bing... No one knows what he does for a living. He was Ross' roommate in college. He is funny in his own way and people often don't understand him.

Rachel Green is Monica’s friend from school. She was supposed to marry Barry Farber but she left him the altar. She was a daddy's girl but she managed to became a successful businesswoman. She has got two sisters.

Joey Tribbiani  is a struggling actor and he is constantly looking for a job.  He is very loyal to his friends and cares for them. He loves women and food, therefore he can eat countless quantity of food and he doesn't like sharing it.

At the end of the last season, fans cried so much, just like they would be saying goodbye to their own friends. I can’t say anything bad about this serial. I love it.

Maybe you'll be a star one day - our English lesson

Two weeks ago we were talking a bit about fame, drama and celebrity on our lesson and our teacher asked certain of us if we'd like to be a star and what kind of start it might be.

I think fame is tiring more often than not but probably most of us sometimes dream about being the centre of attention. When I was a little girl I sang and danced in front of TV and often talked to my family that l want to be a singer, dancer and Got knows who else. I played in the kindergarten, go for little performances with another children to theaters and one day I got a chance to take a part in a real 'serial'.

The biggest dream from my childhood was a dream about being a fashion designer. I drew, designed clothes on the paper, set prices of crooked (but then beautiful) drawings. I've been interested in fashion, collections and history of designers. I've really liked Coco Chanel, known something about Karl Lagerfeld, Vivienne Westwood, styles, catwalk shows and I have had favourite models like Cara Delevingne and although this dream has become not that matter for me over time, I'm still a bit keen on it anyway.

So the question is, what kind of star I might dream about today ? Well, being a famous English-speaking youtuber, blogger, instagramer, famed journalist or musician, even a coach/ personal trainer like Chodakowska or Kyle Itsines might be cool - just being known for something which is important and wise like being a positive person who ( travels the world, plays the guitar, is active) makes her dreams come true and inspiring this another people to live their life it's great kind of star.

At the end I can show you few of my favourite :

Chloe Lukasiak

My second favourite dancer is Chloe Elisabeth Lukasiak. She is fourteen years old dancer, model, actress and fashion designer. Chloe is mainly known from reality show “Dance Moms”.

She was born on May 25, 2001 in Churchill, Pennsylvania. When she was two, she started her adventure with dance and joined Abby Lee Dance Company.  From the ages of four to thirteen, Lukasiak competed with “Dance Moms Junior Elite Competition Team”. She trained there in  lyrical, contemporary, musical theatre, ballet, jazz, hip hop, acro, and Bollywood.

Abby was treated Chloe very bad and unfair. Because of her mother’s arguments with Abby and because of Abby’s behaviour Lukasiak quit the ALDC and moved to Studio 19. Chloe said many times that she was happier when she quit Abby Lee Dance Company because she didn’t feel so much pressure.

You could see Chloe in some music videos like:

  • Good Morning America (2013)
  • The Doctors  (2015)
