Before Christmas, we saw exhibition called 'Body Worlds & the Cycle of Life'. It's not difficult to figure out that it was connected with science, life and body. It all was about the human and inner life.
We watched bones, human skeletons showed in many different ways, internal organs like liver, intestines, heart, brain and all what the human is build with. Probably all of that was real but it was unbelievably ! Some of exhibits looked such unreal (of course, mostly in positive meaning). There also were captions under exhibits and screens on walls. Everybody could read them or watched short movies and learn something. Perfect if you are interesting in science and biology.
I think the exhibition could be a bit shocking or creepy for some people but I can say it was quite interesting but I also expected a bit more. So, what I liked the most ? Wall with quotes about life and histories about health, age, the happiest or the longest- living people. I drew a blank on majority of them but I remeber two quotes. They go this way :
'Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter.' ~ Mark Twain
'And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.' ~ Abraham Lincoln
I think there is no wrong anwser, Christmas time could means for you
buying present or just decorating a tree, for your neighbor, spending time
with family or watching home alone. But for me it could be someting more than that,
deep, deep inside I hard belive it's all about love.
Who does not need love?
Only crazy ones.
People hete being lonley and for me, christmas is time to
find love! Of course nothing can be forced, however look around; cupcake in heart's shape, pink sweaters, even malls are decorated with sweet, shiny patterns.
Maybe this year try to focus, how you express feelings to your closest?
People often, in christmas time fever, forget about important values, I do not say
that buying gifts or doing housework is wrong and unnecessary, but definitely
not the most expected. Remeber that even old-fashioned "I love you" can make
Black Friday it's a name of the first Friday after The Thanksgiving Day.
It's a day when shops are extremely reducing the prize of their products, it's also kinda an inauguration of the frenzy Christmas shopping season. A few years ago, this special Friday was known only in America or Great Britain, but now it starts to spread in the whole Europe, including Poland. During this day people can do everything to get whatever they want for the least prize.
They are able to stuck many hours in uncommonly long queues or even overnight in front of the shopping centre to get what they want, before it will be sold out. Pretty crazy, isn't it? ;p
You can see it below.
Before and after
Many sources tell that the term "black Friday" was used first in 1975 to refer the losses and profits after The Thanksgiving Day. Profits were written in black ink and losses were written in red ink.
That year many of sellers had gained much more profits than losses because of uncommon traffic in their shops. Nowadays we can see that it' s kinda extra consumerism holiday that really gives a huge amount of profits to the biggest companies in the world
.
My opinion
Black Friday is a very specific day, that people (especially from Europe) can perceive in very different ways. After all these crazy people fighting, anyway I find that it's nice occasion to buy something for an extra low price, but if only you'll keep the restraint and self control ;) Sometimes we just need to get crazy and buy something that we want to, but we need to be serious and remember that it's only the sale and only another Black Friday Day :)
Before the summer holiday our class won a price in Zakręcona Szkoła school competition. We had to collect the plastic screw caps and every month brought them to school. As a reward we were going to a candy shop. We got a pack of candies and we had the possibility to make our own lollipop. Before the work two women showed us, how to make the sugar mass for this candy. I think that we had a lot of fun and it was an interesting lesson. I'm sure that it was more interesting and funnier than a normal school day. And I'd like to go out more often next school year.
I decided to write about it, because I think that bullying is one of the most serious problems that can touch each and everyone of us, in any place. But, what exactly is it?
What is bullying?
Bullying is a form of repeatable aggressive behaviour. It' s usually against single person who is different than the others and unacceptable by some offender.
People who do it usually have more influence or power over someone else, or want to make someone less feel less powerful or helpless.
These people bully out of anger or frustration, they may have low self-esteem or they could been also victims of bullying.
We ought to know that bullying has many different types too:
Physical bullying.-It includes hitting, punching, kicking, pinching and it's very dangerous sort of it.
Verbal bullying.- It includes behaviours like name-calling, teasing, intimidation or verbal abuse.
Covert/ hidden bullying. - It's hard to recognize this type of bullying, because even victim couldn't know about it. The purpose of it is to harm someone's social reputation. It includes: joking, making negative facial or physicals gestures, spreading rumours, lying.
Cyberbullying. - This form of bullying can be covert or overt behaviour using the newest technologies like social media or instant messages, It can happen any time and any place. It includes: hurtful text messages/videos, excluding others online, nasty rumours and gossiping, imitating others online or using their log-in.
Facts and statistics
"It is estimated that 160,000 children miss school every day due to fear of attack or intimidation by other students. Source: National Education Association."
"56% of students have personally witnessed some type of bullying at school."
"282,000 students are physically attacked in secondary schools each month"
"1 in 4 teachers see nothing wrong with bullying and will only intervene 4% of the time"
"By age 14 less than 30% of boys and 40% of girls will talk to their peers about bullying".
How bullying affects?
Bullying can affects on others in very different ways, but scientists are sure that it has very bad influence on other person's psychic. Victims of bullying could feel hopeless, guilty for living and alone. They could also get depression and start to think about suicide, because in their minds it's the one and only way to release from bullying.
It's very sad, because they start to think that they aren't normal people and they are worthless.
Unfortunately this happens much more often now than in last few years. Nowadays many of young people try to commit suicide, cause they hate themselves and their life.
We can hear about deaths of depressed teenagers from television, internet on even from the radio.
Usually people who are bulling other people doesn't have even faintest idea that because of their behaviour, someone can end his life. They are shocked.
Our reaction is important
Most of the time bullying takes place with bystanders present. Bystanders are those who witness or know bullying is occurring. The way bystanders act has a major impact on bullying.Bystanders who are passive (take no action) or behave in ways that give silent approval (watching, nodding, walking away) encourage the behaviour to continue.
They do it because: of fear of being bullied, they think that it's fun to watch it, they think that some one else will help. It's the worst way that we can react if we are witness of bullying. I was making researches and I have found interesting video where some man is making social experiment how people react on bulling. Video is below.
How we can stop it?
Bullying is a very serious problem, so I think that we should know how to react on the behaviour like this. What we should do when we see bullying?
In most of cases we probably do completely nothing, because we worry about ourselves like I wrote in the last paragraph. The best way to help bullied person is to help him and punish the offender. Tell "buller" that his behaviour is terrible and that he has no reason to bully innocent person.
I think that in this way we can rescue somebody from depression or even suicide, show other people that bullying has to stop now!
The other case is when we are bullied person. Many of experts think that the best way is to not respond on "buller's" attacks. However I think that sometimes it's impossible and we mustn't let others to hurt ourselves. Being neutral is sometimes too dangerous.
In that case we can tell person who is bullying us face to face that device that he behaves badly and hurt us. This is only for brave ones I think.
We shouldn't forget that we always can ask for help people who we trust to. They can support us and advice how to solve a problem.
Whatever form of bullying takes place, we should react on it. It's bad to do nothing because this new social problem spreads very quickly. People who were bullied in past often want to do it, cause they want to make high their low self-esteem (reason of being victim).
I think that teens should get to know about bullying and its negative consequences.
It could help to cure dangerous "bullying virus"
Everybody knows that America and Great Britain are
two totally different countries. The difference isn't only in the distance
between these countries or in the size of them. At bottom, there are so many
distinctions among these entirely different worlds. I think that it’s good to
know it, and in my opinion this is interesting topic to write about, so,
let’s start :)
***
Language
The
first major difference is language. There are many types of English languages,
one of them are British English (is the form of English used in the U.K. It includes all English dialects used in the United Kingdom.) and American English(is the form of English used in the U.S.A. It includes all English dialects used in the United States.). We can find it when we
listen to common speech of Britain and American people. British people
emphasizes some words and letters stronger than Americans (it's explained on the video below) .
There are also many
dissimilarities of the transcription of the common words. (There are a few
examples in a box below.)In the European union, we use to
learn British English, because England is in Europe.
However, I think that it’s
a good decision cause I really like British language and it’s good to learn how to talk properly.

Culture and daily life
It could be too boring to read all the culture differences, so I decided to write, what I found interesting :)
-Newspapers are more common in UK: the tabloids are more widely read & don't really have US counterpart.
-American children's sports are far more serious & "professional" than in Britain.
-Americans are much prouder of their country.
-America is more legalistic & litigious. Lawyers are more feature of everyday life.
-There is no Thanksgiving nor equivalent. Christmas would be the only big day for seeing family.
-Americans are bigger. Taller & heavier. And a lot more very obese people.(24% of English, 36% of Americans)
-Pedestrians are more usual in UK.
-Britain is more egalitarian in culture.
-Universities. Americans are far more loyal to their university.
-Lunch time drinking happens more in UK.
-Drinking and getting drunk is more common and more acceptable in UK.
-Most all US restaurants offer the choice of tap water which is always free or bottled water for which you always pay extra.
-For Americans, toilet is a piece of porcelain. For the British, it is also a room that contains that particular piece of porcelain.
-Before an adjective, American quite means ‘very’, while British quite means ‘somewhat’
-Americans don’t use the word trousers much, and when they do, it only applies to menswear.
The differences are even in the arrangement of the computer keyboard.

Rundown
So as we can see, there are hundreds of even the most crazy differences between Great Britain and America.
We can perceive it in each part of daily life these two countries. On the first sight it could seem that there aren't so many distinctions, but we have to remember that each country is one and only and ultimate. :)
